Congratulations to David Brown of Boldon Golf Club, who was crowned the 2026 Durham County Golf Union Second Division Champion following an excellent performance in challenging conditions at Boldon Golf Club.

With strong winds making scoring difficult throughout the day, David produced a superb round of five-over-par 77 to secure the championship by two strokes from Peter Highmoor of Whitburn Golf Club, who finished as runner-up.

Third place went to Rob Carlisle, Captain of Castle Eden Golf Club, while Michael Neal of Consett & District Golf Club was pushed back into fourth place on countback.


Our sincere thanks go to Boldon Golf Club for once again being outstanding hosts for a Durham County Golf Union championship. We are grateful to the club's committee, members and staff for making their excellent course and facilities available and for the warm hospitality shown throughout the day.

Special thanks are extended to Head Greenkeeper Stephen Skachill and his team, whose hard work ensured the course was presented in outstanding condition despite this year's exceptionally dry weather. Their efforts provided a true test and a course worthy of a county championship.
