Handicapping in County Durham

DCGU oversees handicap administration for affiliated clubs across County Durham under the World Handicap System (WHS), which has been in operation since November 2020. The WHS is administered nationally by England Golf.

Handicap Index
Your Handicap Index is a portable measure of playing ability, calculated from your best 8 of your last 20 score differentials.
Playing Handicap
Your Playing Handicap is calculated by applying your Handicap Index to the specific course and tee you are playing from on the day.
Score Differentials
Each qualifying score is converted into a Handicap Differential using the Course Rating, Slope Rating, and Playing Conditions Calculation.

Handicap Queries

In the first instance, handicap queries should be directed to your home club's Handicap Secretary. For matters that cannot be resolved at club level, or for club handicap administrators requiring guidance, please contact the DCGU County Secretary.

Further information on the World Handicap System, including the full WHS Rules of Handicapping and Player's Edition, is available through England Golf.
