Durham Seniors are off to a great start

The first County match of the season for Durham County Seniors was an away match against Cumbria County Seniors at Windermere Golf Club. This first match has been the Durham team achilles heel for the last few years, so we really wanted to get off to a good start this season by beating Cumbria on their own turf.

All the matches were close from the start, with the six morning greensome matches ending 3 points each. The afternoon better-ball matches were also very close, with some very good scoring. Four of the six matches were decided on the last hole and the other two were decided on the 17th. After some very tense play, match five of six sank a fifteen foot putt on the last green for a birdie two, to halve their match and get the final point needed to win the overall match.
