Welcome to the Durham County Golf Union

As the men's Governing Body of amateur golf in County Durham, the Durham County Golf Union devotes its resources primarily to the administration of county championships and team competitions as well as county teams and coaching programmes.

The DCGU is affiliated to England Golf, the country's National Governing Body (NGB) of amateur golf and carries out course measurement and standard scratch rating duties on their behalf across the 45 affiliated clubs in County Durham.

The County Secretary acts as registrar for the County Membership Scheme and also administers the Senior County Card and English County Card scheme's which provide affiliated club members with benefits such as the privilege of playing in County Salver competitions and discounted green fees.

Through its involvement with the County Golf Development Group, the DCGU supports the county's 44 affiliated clubs in the recruitment and retention of new golfers of all ages into the regular participation and membership.

This website also includes information on the History and Executive of the Durham County Golf Union as well as Competitions, Results, News and the various County Members and Cards Schemes on offer.

New Rules of Golf Workshop 24th October

Ramside Hall Hotel (17:30 - 20:30).

The Rules of Golf are changing on 1 January 2019 - and we want you to be in the know and all geared up from the start.

To help you go into the New Year with confidence, England Golf is working closely with The R&A to make sure that you have all the knowledge and skills you need.

We are running a number of workshops across the country this autumn, hosted and presented by England Golf’s representatives.

These sessions will provide details of the new Rules of Golf and explain how they will impact your golf club and your members.

We expect places to be highly sought after and they will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

The session will run from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, with refreshments and registration at 5.00pm.

Please note: Places are limited to three delegates per club so ensure you agree in advance who should be attending from your club.
