George Olaman
It is with great sadness that we have to report on the death of George Olaman. George first joined the County Executive in 1982 and was President of the County in 1989 & 1990. George over the years had a close association with Castle Eden, Hartlepool and High Throston Golf Clubs. He along with others in the County were prime movers in the formation of the Durham Past Captains Society which is now so successful..

Executive Member Passes Away
It is with great sadness that we have to report on the death of Gordon Hodgson (Garesfield). Gordon passed away on Wednesday26th January 2011 after a short illness. Gordon who was a member of the County Executive was also on the Executive of the Durham County Junior Golfing Society. Gordon will be sadly missed.

AGM
Clyde Alan Camp of Crook Golf Club was elected President of the County Golf Union at the AGM which was held at Ramside Hall Hotel on Wednesday 19th January.
Also re-elected to the County Executive at the AGM were A. Garrity (Chester le Street) and C.H. Thomas (Ryton) and newly elected to the County Executive was K. Joel (Chester le Street).
The three Vice Presidents, D. Olley (Billingham, N. Brown (Durham City) and G.M. Crawford (Castle Eden) were also re-elected.

Distance Measuring Devices
The County Executive have followed the English Golf Unions decision and will allow distance measuring devices in County competitions in 2009. Devices which also incorporate gradient, temperature and wind speed will not be allowed. Any person found with these devices in competitions will be disqualified even if he has not used any of these facilities.
